About this course
Our Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics trains you to become a qualified professional biostatistician. Biostatistics is the application of statistical techniques to scientific research in health-related fields, including medicine and public health.

Our Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics is designed to provide advanced biostatistical training for a diverse range of students. Our program is suitable for someone who has a degree from a relevant discipline and an aptitude for advanced mathematics.
Structure
What you’ll study
Our Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics consists of 24 credit points of study and provides an introduction to the field of biostatistics. It does not contain the full set of skills required to be a practising biostatistician.
The core unit for the graduate certificate allows students to develop a good understanding of the principles of epidemiology, and three biostatistics elective units allow for development of practical and technical skills necessary to progress to further postgraduate studies in biostatistics.

Admissions
A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics will hold:
- a bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, science, psychology, medicine, pharmacy, economics, health sciences or other appropriate discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
