Build the skills and knowledge to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Who is it for?
This course is for educators looking to improve their leadership by learning how to identify and disrupt deficit discourses about Aboriginal peoples, cultures and histories by creating deep and real world cultural understandings through their students.

What you’ll study
You will complete 6 units of study (24 credit points), including:
- a minimum of 3 units of study (18 credit points) of core units; and
- a maximum of 1 unit of study (6 credit points) of elective units

Admissions
Admission to candidature for this course requires:
- a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study; or
- a bachelor's degree and either the Graduate Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
- a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies in Education, or professional experience equivalent to two years full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study.
Subject to meeting progression requirements in the graduate certificate, you may apply to transfer to the Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies or the Master of Education.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
