About this course
The program explores how to work with students who have special education needs, how to support and promote social behaviour, and teach students often challenged by the demands of education programs.
Who is it for?
If you're seeking a shorter period of study than that required for the Master's degree, you should consider this program. You can complete your certificate with units of study that suit your interests, or specialise in your chosen field from our offerings in Special and Inclusive Education.

You will complete 24 credit points, including:
- 12 credit points of core units of study; and
- 12 credit points of elective units of study

Admissions
Admission to candidature requires:
- a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study; or
- a bachelor's degree and either the Graduate Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
- a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to two years full-time, in a field considered by the School to be appropriate to the program of studies.
Subject to meeting progression requirements in the graduate certificate, you may apply to transfer to the Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies or the Master of Education.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
