About this course

What you’ll study
Using a client-centred approach, coaching psychologists help people and organisations achieve their objectives in areas such as career development, executive coaching, leadership growth, and organisational change.
You can expect to gain both a sound grounding in the main psychological theories and principles that inform coaching practice and a foundation in the core skills of applied coaching.
You will complete 3 core units including:
- Theories and Techniques of Coaching Psychology,
- Fundamentals of Coaching Practice, and
- Coaching Practice,
You will complete 3 elective units, you can choose from:
- Socio-Cognitive Issues in Coaching Psychology;
- Positive Organisational Coaching; Groups,
- Teams and Systems;
- Applied Positive Psychology;
- Psychology of Peak Performance.

Admissions
Admission to this degree requires:
- a three-year Psychology degree or a three-year degree in a cognate discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent institution; and
- a minimum of three years relevant employment experience; or
- completion of the embedded graduate certificate in this discipline, from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification.
As entry into this course is competitive, applicants who meet the admission requirements are then ranked according to academic merit and coaching experience.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 7.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 105 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 76 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
