About this course

Acquire an understanding of theories of educational management and leadership, and of organisational behaviour and change processes and their impact on organisations.

Who is it for?

This specialisation is ideal if you want to further develop your skills in an educational organisation, management or leadership position.

This course is also aimed at those from primary and secondary schools, as well as those involved in higher education, social work and human resource development.

Structure

What you’ll study

You will become familiar with a range of management issues and their relationship to other developments in education, the economy and society; develop skills in the analysis of policy developments and factors affecting the implementation of management policies.

You will complete 36 credit points, including:

  • a minimum of 18 credit points of core units of study;
  • a minimum of 12 credit points of elective units of study; and
  • a maximum of 6 credit points of postgraduate Education units of study chosen from any Master of Education program.

Qualifications

Admission to candidature requires: 

  • a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study; or 
  • a bachelor's degree and either the Graduate Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or 
  • a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to two years full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study.
