About this course

Designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers, our Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Health Promotion aims to improve Indigenous health at a community level. This program will give you the knowledge and skills to identify community needs, develop a plan of action and execute it. 

Who is it for?

Our program is for Indigenous health practitioners who already have a role in promoting the health of their communities or hold equivalent qualifications. It is designed to give practitioners skills they need to help prevent illness and reduce the harms in the community.

What you’ll study

Our Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Health Promotion is made up of 36 credit points. You will undertake six core units of study to qualify for the award of the course. 

This course is offered through our interactive online learning environment, giving you the flexibility to tailor your study schedule around your lifestyle. It is delivered in intensive block mode format.

Qualifications

Admission to the diploma is restricted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples and a successful applicant for admission will:

  • hold at least three years working experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities, and experience in engaging communities in action to improve their health; and
  • have completed prior learning that shows they can complete a course of study. The most obvious example is a degree or equivalent, but credit can be given for all forms of tertiary education, including relevant VET courses.

For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
