About this course
This program will develop your skills and knowledge in urban design and urbanism with a strong emphasis on sustainability, quantification and implementation. Gain a multidisciplinary outlook with emphasis on communication and collaboration that emulates real-world practice.
Who is it for?
Professionals and graduates in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning or similar areas will develop and extend their professional expertise; but we also welcome applicants from other disciplines. This course is ideal for graduates of the Bachelor of Architecture and Environments.
Structure
What you’ll study
This program offers a foundation in historical and theoretical dimensions of urbanism and design and expands your understanding and design skills at both suburban and metropolitan levels.
You will develop the ability to analyse contexts, define principles and provide guidance for designers and architects of buildings, landscape, and the public domain. You will be trained to refine and focus your skills in spatial thinking and visual communication.
The Graduate Diploma will provide you with a foundation for the more intensive theoretical and practical work undertaken in the Master of Urban Design.

Admissions
Admission to this course requires:
- an undergraduate degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, town planning, urbanism, geography or a related field; or
- completion of the requirements of the embedded Graduate Certificate with an average mark of at least 65
Based on the applicant's undergraduate performance, the Program Director reserves the right to require a portfolio of work indicating relevant design interests and capabilities for admission. A portfolio should only be provided if requested by the Program Director.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
