About this course
This program will enable you to develop efficient and environmentally responsive buildings and to retrofit existing buildings to meet today’s environmental demands. The course integrates units from the architectural sciences and emphasises rigour, quality, and evidence-based design.
Who is it for?
This program is tailored for design and related built-environment professionals who wish to extend their expertise in sustainable design, and for graduates of the Bachelor of Architecture and Environments and Bachelor of Design in Architecture.

What you’ll study
The Master of Architectural Science (Sustainable Design) is a postgraduate coursework degree with a primary stream in Sustainable Design that focuses on creating forward-looking, sustainability-oriented architects.
You will complete core foundational and advanced units to develop the tools and approaches required for sustainable building, along with a capstone unit comprising a research report or dissertation.
Additionally, you will complete elective units as needed to meet the requirements of the course. You also have the option to undertake a second stream if you complete 96 credit points where you will complete the core advanced units required for that stream.

Admissions
Admission to the Master of Architectural Science requires:
- a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification; or
- completion of the requirements of the embedded graduate diploma; or
- completion of the requirement of the graduate certificate with an average mark of at least 70 across all the units attempted for the award.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
