Structure
What you’ll study
The Master of Computer Science (advanced entry) is a postgraduate coursework degree. You will complete core, foundation and specialist units and have the opportunity to undertake either one or two specialisations. You will also complete a professional capstone or research project.
You will complete:
- 3 x Computing professional core subjects
- A minimum of 4 x specialist computing subjects
- 1 x professional capstone or research project, and
- Additional specialist, elective or foundation subjects.

Admissions
To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:
- An Australian bachelor’s degree or higher award in a cognate discipline with a credit average (65 percent), or equivalent qualification, or
- Completion of the requirements of the embedded graduate diploma or graduate certificate in this discipline or an equivalent qualification with a credit average (65 percent).
Note: A cognate discipline must show significant study in Computer Science or Information Technology areas, equivalent in volume of learning to a major. This would include a degree in a discipline deemed cognate by the Faculty, or a component within a degree not clearly in those disciplines.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
