Structure
What you’ll study
By undertaking a Master in Cybersecurity, you will complete:
- 2 x Cybersecurity core subjects
- 2 x Computing professional core subjects
- 4 x Cybersecurity specialist elective subjects
- 1 x capstone project or research project
- Elective or foundation units
You can choose to undertake one of the following specialisations as part of this degree:
- Cloud Security
- Cryptography and Blockchains
- Data and Information Security

Admissions
To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:
- a three year Australian bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or
- the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or a qualification deemed to be equivalent; or
- completed 24 credit points of the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity or Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity with a minimum credit average (65 percent). The 24 credit points must include 12 credit points of Cybersecurity Core units and 12 credit points of Cybersecurity specialist elective units, and
- a major or minor in information technologies (IT) or computer science, or equivalent in volume of learning as determined by the program directors is required for this discipline
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
