About this course
Our Master of Dental Public Health focuses on the prevention of oral diseases and improving oral health at a population level, particularly among vulnerable populations. Graduates will gain advanced skills in oral health surveillance, research and optimisation of oral health services and delivery.
Who is it for?
Our course is designed for registered dentists in Australia seeking specialist recognition and those who are seeking a premier education in dental public health, such as other dental practitioners, international dentists and non-dentally qualified individuals working in oral health/public health.

What you’ll study
The Master of Dental Public Health is a postgraduate coursework degree that will give you advanced skills in oral health surveillance, policy development, community-based disease prevention, health promotion, research, and optimisation of oral health services and delivery. Graduates from this program who are also registered dentists will be eligible to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a dental specialist in public health dentistry.
You will complete core units in dental health services, population oral health and preventative dentistry, in addition to capstone and research project units. You will also complete elective units as needed to make up the requirements of the course.

Admissions
Admission to the Master of Dental Public Health requires:
- a bachelor or doctoral degree (or equivalent) in dentistry; or a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, and
- a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree; or a qualification deemed by the faculty to be equivalent, and
- performance in an interview.
In exceptional circumstances, applicants may be admitted without the master’s degree in public health who, in the opinion of the faculty, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 7.0 in each band
A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 23 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 25 in Writing
A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 68 in each band
