About this course
The Master of Education (Educational Leadership) examines concepts in educational administration and management, from theories and models of organisational behaviour to understanding change processes and their effects on organisations.

This specialisation is designed for anyone who aspires to a leadership position in an educational organisation or who is interested in understanding more about management and leadership positions within these contexts.

What you’ll study
The Master of Education (Educational Leadership) is a postgraduate coursework degree that will provide understanding about management and leadership within educational contexts.
You will complete core units in analysis of policy development and of factors affecting the implementation of human resources and management policies, along with a capstone experience comprising either a semester-long special project or a year-long dissertation.
Additionally, you will complete any elective postgraduate education units as needed to meet the requirements of the course.

Admissions
Admission to candidature for the Master of Education (Educational Leadership) requires:
- a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the Faculty to be appropriate to the program of study; or
- a bachelor's degree and either the Graduate Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
- a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to two years full-time, in a field considered by the School to be appropriate to the program of studies.
If you do not meet the requirements listed above for direct entry to the Master’s degree, you may be able to enter via a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in the same subject area and upgrade to the Master’s after successful completion of the shorter course.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
