Our Master of Emergency Nursing aims to develop the specialist knowledge and skills required to work closely with patients and their families who are confronted with trauma, accidents or acute and unexpected illnesses.

What you’ll study

Our Master of Emergency Nursing is a postgraduate coursework degree that will develop your specialist knowledge and skills to work closely with patients and their families who are confronted with trauma, accidents or acute and unexpected illnesses.

You will complete core units along with two elective units. You will also complete a work- or research-based capstone.

Qualifications

Admission to this course requires the applicant to:

  • have a pre-registration nursing degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification with a credit average; or
  • have a graduate diploma or graduate certificate in this discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification.
  • be a registered nurse in Australia or overseas.

Domestic applicants

Domestic applicants are required to have a minimum of one year's experience as a registered nurse, be working in emergency nursing and provide a statement of support from their supervisor or manager in order to undertake the required clinical assessments.

International applicants

International applicants are required to have a minimum of one year's experience in emergency nursing and have a choice of providing a statement of support from their supervisor if they wish to undertake the required clinical assessments in their home country, or else the clinical assessments can be undertaken at the Sydney Nursing School under simulated conditions.
