Structure
What you’ll study
The Master of Management (CEMS) is a 72 credit point degree (three semesters of full time study) pre-experience program. The degree has been specifically designed to make it possible for students to complete the prestigious CEMS Master’s in International Management program as part of their degree.
The Master of Management (CEMS) is a postgraduate coursework degree that provides you with the expertise and knowledge needed for an international career in business, consulting, and corporate advice.
The University of Sydney is the only university in Australia to offer this program, and we are the only business school in Australia and the first non-European institution to be admitted as a member of CEMS.
You will complete core and elective units in business, management, and strategy, along with a capstone project that will give you an opportunity to work with corporate partners on real-world business problems.
You will also complete at least one semester of exchange at one of the 33 CEMS partner institutions overseas as part of the requirements of the Masters in International Management (MIM).
CEMS Master in International Management
Students undertake the CEMS Master in International Management (CEMS MIM) in:
- their second and third semester of the Master of Management (CEMS) program (for the Semester 1 intake)
- their first and second semester of the Master of Management (CEMS) program (for the Semester 2 intake)
Exchange allocation
After commencing the MMGT (CEMS) program, students will be required to indicate their preference for all 32 CEMS universities. Students are then allocated based on their confidential admission ranking and their preferences. The admission ranking will be based on the following:
- Intellectual potential and knowledge (formal education, ability to analyse, learn/reflect, prior knowledge in the business field).
- Attitude and soft skills (desire to achieve, interpersonal competences, integrity, critical thinking, motivation for the MIM program).
- International orientation (curiosity for differences, sensitivity and adaptability, the spirit of facing challenges, international openness)
Places at CEMS Universities are generally limited to one slot per year (additional slots are occasionally available for the most popular exchange Universities).
Learning and teaching at all CEMS Universities will be delivered in English. The languages you declare as CEMS languages have no bearing on your final allocation.
Please note the following:
- Students admitted in Semester 1 of any year may choose to undertake one or two semesters of exchange
- Students admitted in Semester 2 of any year may only undertake one semester of exchange and that semester must be the semester after they enter the program
You will be advised of your CEMS Universities allocation by the third or fourth week of your first semester in the Master of Management (CEMS) program. All CEMS Universities allocations are final and non-negotiable.
Additional requirements for the CEMS MIM
Students must complete the following additional requirements in order to graduate from the CEMS MIM:
- A block seminar prior to their first semester of the CEMS MIM. Block seminars run once a year in August/September
- 4 days of skills seminars
- An 8-week international internship. Students are required to arrange their own internship.
