About this course
Our Master of Medicine (Advanced) (Internal Medicine) builds on the knowledge gained during the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine), allowing high-achieving students to plan and carry out a supervised research project.
Who is it for?
Our course is designed for medical graduates who have completed the requirements for the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and are interested in emergency medicine, intensive care medicine or adult general practice.
Structure
What you’ll study
The Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) (Advanced) requires the completion of 60 credit points of units of study including:
- 48 credit points of study required for the masters
- 12 credit points of project units of study.
Students complete a research project in an area of specific interest relevant to their master's degree. Students will be guided through the steps required to plan and execute a substantial research project and prepare a scholarly work which may be a paper for publication.
If you are interested in this option it is recommended that you complete FMHU5002 as one of your master's elective units.
All core learning material is delivered online and some units of study have an intensive face-to-face teaching session.

Admissions
Admission to the course requires:
- completion of the requirements for the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine)
- an average mark of at least 75% in 24 credit points of compulsory and/or stream units of study
- any other requirements as stated by the Faculty at the time of application.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.5 in each band
A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 22 in Writing
A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 61 in each band
