About this course
This course will provide you with a command of relevant performance technique and the ability to communicate through musical performance, including orchestral and solo instruments, early music, jazz and contemporary music.
Who is it for?
This degree is aimed at musicians who wish to enhance their mastery in music performance, in preparation for a career at the highest levels of the performance industry.
Structure
What you’ll study
You will choose a principal study in voice, orchestral and solo instruments, early music, jazz and contemporary music practice.
This degree provides ample opportunity to perform as both a soloist and as a member of a musical ensemble. Throughout the course you will present recitals, participate in seminars, conducted ensembles and chamber groups, culminating in a public performance in your final semester.
This degree will also allow you to extend your theoretical knowledge and research skills, and tailor your learning through a range of elective subjects, seminars, workshops and internships.

Admissions
Admission requires:
- a master's degree in an appropriate discipline as determined by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music; or
- a pass bachelor's degree with a credit average, or an honours bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline as determined by the Conservatorium; or
- an award of graduate diploma from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline as determined by the Conservatorium; or
- completion of the requirements of the embedded graduate diploma in this discipline from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification; and
- successful completion of an audition.
Available places will be offered to qualified applicants in the order in which complete applications are received, and according to the admissions criteria.
Applicants who do not have a recognised tertiary award but who demonstrate an equivalent musical ability and maturity at the audition and interview, and who can show considerable performing experience may be admitted.
A minimum result of 6.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 73 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 54 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
