About this course
Develop specialised technical knowledge in biomedical engineering to help you transition to an engineering career. Gain specialised technical knowledge to understand, modify and control biological systems to improve health care and medical systems.

This course is for people seeking to make the transition from a science or mathematics-based career to become an engineer, or who already have an engineering degree and would like to change paths to a different specialisation.
Structure
What you’ll study
Areas of study include bioelectronics and biocomputation, nanoscale biotechnology, and biomedical devices and machines.
You will complete:
- 8 x core foundation Biomedical Engineering units
- 5 x core Biomedical Engineering units
- 5 x units in your chosen Biomedical specialisation
- 2 x Biomedical Engineering electives
- 2 x professional engineering units
- a minimum of 2 x project or research pathway units

Admissions
To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:
- an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree with a 65 percent average, or equivalent qualification or
- an Australian bachelor's degree in a non-Engineering discipline with a 65 percent average, with studies equivalent to 48 credit points (equivalent to 1 year full time study load) in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, computing or statistics, as related to the stream sought for admission.
International qualifications
For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
